Motorcycle Camp European Riding Adventure July:

Serious fun for serious riders

Motorcycle Camp is a European Riding Adventure this July which we’ll just call “Motor Camp” for short.  Imagine a week of serious riding and serious fun.

Combine the Grand Tour Switzerland motorcycle tour (July 21-29) with this edition of Motor Camp, for the best two weeks of riding you’ll experience in 2017.

Time and weather permitting, we’ve have a variety of optional activities such as mountain biking, canyoning, hiking, glider flight, etc.  (More can be found at the bottom of this page.)

Day 1

Don’t hit the snooze button on your alarm.  Today we’ve got a full day ahead of us.

On tap for the day:  The Vercors.

Maybe you’ve heard of it, maybe you haven’t.  Either way, you’ll dig it for the ride.

The Vercors is a motorcyclist’s haven.  Hope you got a good night’s sleep, cause we hit the ground running.

Spectacular scenery, twisty roads, narrow gorges, rocky overhangs.  Hill climbs, wide open plateau, forest…plenty to take in.  The Vercors draws motorcyclists from all over Europe and for plenty of good reasons.

Arriving in Die for the evening, you’ll have the opportunity to taste the Clairette de Die, which is a brilliant sparkling white wine.  Cheers!

Departure:  Grenoble

Arrival:  Die

Distance:  275km

Ride Time: 5 – 5.5 hours

Day 2

Now you might be saying to yourself, I can ride 8-10 hours a day back home no problem.  Well, this isn’t Kansas, Dorothy.

European riding is more demanding, therefore more tiring.  It’s not boulevard cruising.  With the amount of turns, curves & switchbacks involved, you will have a ball, but it does require more effort than highway cruising.

Today we’ll finish our stint in the Vercors.  Our itinerary is as follows:

Departure:  Die

Arrival:  Grenoble

Ride Time:  4.5-5 hours

Distance:  200 km

Motorcycle Tour Europe Vercors

Day 3 Verdon Gorges & Provence

Departure:  Grenoble

Arrival:  Verdon Gorges

Distance:  240 km

Ride Time:  5.5-6 hours

Day 4

Leaving the Verdon Gorges region, we’ll stop off in Briancon.  An important fortified Alpine town.  You’ll have the chance to stroll the ramparts and narrow cobblestone streets of this historic town.

Departure:  Verdon Gorges

Arrival:  Grenoble

Distance:  250 km

Ride Time:  5.5-6 hours

Day 5 Tour de France Stages

Put on a yellow jersey, or some high viz wear because we’re off to ride some of the favorites on the Tour de France cycle circuit.

Two days of famous Cols (mountain passes) that have made champions.

Col du Lautaret, Galibier, Telegraphe, Madelaine & Col de l’Iseran are on the menu.  These passes are all top shelf material.  Be thankful we twist the throttle and don’t have to pedal our way.

Departure:  Grenoble

Arrival:  Tignes

Distance:  225 km

Ride Time:  5 hours

Day 6

Final Lap

This will be our final day of riding.  More renowned Cols on today’s agenda.  Col du Petit Saint Bernard, Col du Glandon, Croix de Fer.  Nothing but great stuff.

At some point all good things must come to an end.  Whether you combine this week with the Grand Tour Switzerland, or only choose this week, you’ll have gotten your fill of pure riding goodness, excellent food and fun for sure.

Departure:  Tignes

Arrival:  Grenoble

Distance:  230 km

Ride Time: 6 hours

Day 6:  Evening Send-off Party

We’ll finish up in style.  First we’ll relax at the spa before the evening festivities.

We’ll have a great dinner of course, plenty of stories to recount.  We’ll laugh, maybe some will cry, after all we spent an epic week together.  We’ll promise to write or email and look forward to another adventure.  Count on it.
